Well, it has been a long time since I posted last. We have not been out on the land much in the past few months because Daniel was sick for quite a while with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever which is from a tick bite that he probably got out here. He spent two weeks in the hospital then the recovery took about 6 weeks. After he was well enough to go back to work, the weather was in the triple digits and we just didn't feel like dealing with the heat. The past few weekends we have gone out and started some projects like clearing some trees and making the "driveway" suitable for our Civic.

Both of our tents have tragically lost their lives to rainstorms and blistering heat.
We were greeted by an entire zoo of sweet animals on the way home last night. They wouldn't move out of the road and the longer we sat there, the more kept coming out of the woods to see what was going on. The number of animals at least tripled after I packed my camera away. I love country life!
We have so many big plans for the future that I can't wait to share with you. But first, we need to get the house built! Then we can work on the animals and gardens and all the fun stuff. Anybody who is interested in country life or self sufficiency must read The Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery. It is by far one of the coolest and most informative books I have read on the subject. I cannot recommend it enough!
